Jarvis and Wickham Lead York over Albertus Magnus College

NEW HAVEN, CT— Sophomore Niya Jarvis and freshman Kadisha Wickham both nearly recorded unconventional triple-doubles to lead the York College women's basketball team to a, 70-60, win over Albertus Magnus College Thursday night. Jarvis netted 11 points, grabbed eight boards and recorded a remarkable 12 steals, while Wickham finished with a game-high 16 points, eight rebounds and nine steals.
As a team, York matched its season high for steals in a game with 32. The Lady Cardinals also had 32 steals in a win over City Tech on January 14. In addition, York matched a season-high in turnovers forced with 48 which was also previously set against City Tech, but on January 30.
Despite the miscues by Albertus Magnus, the Falcons kept it close for the majority of the game. At halftime, the two teams were knotted up at 28-28.
With 9:53 to play in the second half, the Falcons were within just one point, 44-43, but York pulled off an 11-0 run to take a 55-43 advantage. York had five steals during the stretch and the Lady Cardinals were not threatened the rest of the way.
Also contributing for York in the win was Justina Boatwright, who finished with 14 points and eight boards. Delores Maeweather paced York with nine points and five boards.
The Falcon's Nikki McClease recorded a double-double scoring 15 points, and grabbing 12 boards to lead Albertus Magnus.
York improves to 8-15, while Albertus Magnus drops to 7-14. The Lady Cardinals will wrap up the regular season on Saturday when they visit Brooklyn College. Tip-off is at 12:30 p.m.
