JAMAICA, NY – The York College women’s volleyball team split a pair of matches Friday night defeating the College of New Rochelle 3-1 (25-23, 25-16, 26-28, 25-14) and falling to SUNYIT 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-7).

Shanine Bogan (Brooklyn, NY/ Clara Barton) recorded a team-high 11 kills on 23 attempts (.478) and served up six aces to lead York. Jaylene Medina (Corona, NY/ Flushing) added eight kills and had four digs. Irma Ruiloval (Cuenca, Ecuador) had seven kills and recorded a season-best 12 digs and setter Charlina Gallegos (Mexico City, MX/ Hillcrest) finished with 27 assists. Ashley Willock (Valencia, Trinidad/ Law and Government) also chipped in with nine digs.

The Lady Cardinals looked overmatched against a strong SUNYIT team in the first match of the night. The Wildcats hit at a .464 percentage, led by Juleah Vedder and Hillary Pundt who had 12 kills and 11 kills respectively. Nicole Higgins had a match-high 29 assist for the Wildcats.
For York, Rochelle Bourne (Christ Church, Barbados/ Lester Vaughn) led York with four kills and a .429 hitting percentage, while Ruiloval digged a team-best nine balls.
York, 4-14, will take on both John Jay College and the City College on New York on Monday at the Hunter College campus.
