Women's Volleyball Rallies to Edge Purchase

Overcomes 2-0 deficit to win 3-2

JAMAICA, NYThe York College women’s volleyball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat SUNY Purchase 3-2 (12-30, 29-31, 30-24, 30-20, 15-13) on Thursday evening.  The Cardinals also rallied from a 5-0 hole in the deciding game five to win 15-13. 

 

Kristen King (Richmond Hill, NY/ John Adams) led the Cardinals with 10 kills, while adding five aces and eight digs.  Renee Thompson (Jamaica, WI-St. Ann/ Hillcrest) registered a team-high 20 digs, while Pamela LeBron (Santo Domingo, DR/ Politenico Las Caobas) led York with six blocks.  Michelle Rogers (Panama City, Panama/ WH Maxwell) picked up 16 assists in her first game of the season. 

 

Trailing 2-0, York found themselves tied 16-16 in game three.  The Cardinals rallied to make it 23-17 before eventually taking the York dropped a tough second game, surrendering a 29-27 lead to lose 31-29.   

 

The Cardinals, 2-13, will host St. Joseph’s (LI) on Monday at 7 p.m.
