Courtney Boothe

Courtney Boothe was elevated to lead the York College men’s soccer program as interim head coach ahead of the 2021 season.  Boothe has been with the Cardinal men’s soccer program since 2018, serving in the role of assistant coach.

"We are proud to announce former assistant, Courtney Boothe, as our new head men's soccer coach. With the departure of former head coach, Al Meneses, just weeks before the start of the Fall season, coach Boothe stepped up and led the men's soccer program under challenging circumstances. As the 2021 season draws to a close, we are excited to make the move permanent, and support him in building for the future and reestablishing the program as one of the conference's elite.  Coach Boothe is an experienced, knowledgeable and well-connected member of the local soccer community and is committed to building a foundation of commitment and success for our men's soccer student-athletes." - Director of athletics Carl Christian

“I am looking forward to contributing to the campus community through soccer as York College plays an essential role in the surrounding communities. I take great pride in this opportunity and the challenge of taking York to the next level of CUNYAC soccer. This is an opportunity for my family to come back home as my wife grew up in Queens and is a York alumna.” - Head men's soccer coach Courtney Boothe

In his first season with the Cardinals (2018), Boothe helped develop Rohan Burrell as a first-team CUNYAC All-Star, the program’s first since 2014.  During the 2019 campaign, Boothe contributed to a squad that posted their first CUNYAC win since 2014 as the Cardinals earned a hard fought 2-1 victory against league champion John Jay College.  The momentum from that win later translated into the Cardinals closing out the season unbeaten in three of four games.  Once again, Boothe aided in the development of a second-team CUNYAC All-star selection in Marvin Mondesir.

Accredited by United Soccer Coaches, Boothe holds various diplomas including Premier, Goalkeeping Level 2, and Director of Coaching.  Boothe got his start in collegiate coaching at  Division III Polytechnic University (known today as NYU Poly), where he served as head men’s soccer coach from 2003-06.

A native of Jamaica, Boothe moved to the states in 1993.  He enrolled at Coffeyville Community College, where he started his playing career as a member of the Red Ravens’ men’s soccer team (1994-95).  Boothe then transferred to St. Francis College to compete as a Division I student-athlete for two seasons (1996-97) before receiving his bachelor's degree in management in 1998.  Ranked as high as 21st in the nation, Boothe helped lead the Terriers to a NEC Championship in 1997.  Boothe then earned his master’s degree in 2003 from NYU Poly in technology management.

Since 2008, Boothe has coached youth soccer on Long Island, developing players for SUSA Soccer Academy (2008-12) and Long Island Professional Soccer (2012-20).  Boothe also was the camp director/trainer for the Long Island Rough Riders (2019-20).

Prior to building his coaching career, Boothe worked in Information Technology for 15 years as Assistant Vice President of Voice Services for BNY Mellon.  Residing in Farmingville, New York, Boothe and his wife, Suzette, are proud parents to sons Daniel, Christopher and Joshua.
