Stephanie Taibe

Stephanie Taibe has joined head coach Mario Tang's 2023 staff as assistant coach for the women's volleyball program at York College.  Taibe served as York's co-head coach for the men’s and women’s swimming programs during the 2022-23 season.

No stranger to CUNY, Taibe is a 2015 graduate of Hunter College with a bachelor’s degree in studio arts.  While at Hunter, Taibe was a two-sport student-athlete, competing as a member of the women’s basketball and volleyball programs.  Taibe played three seasons (2011-13) of women's volleyball, appearing in 82 matches and being named captain during her junior campaign.  She led Hunter to CUNYAC Championship finals in all three seasons.  During her junior year, Taibe joined the women's basketball team, advancing to the 2014 CUNYAC Championship finals.

As a senior, Taibe held a graphic design internship at the CUNYAC.  Taibe earned her master’s degree in sports science from Hofstra University 2017, while interning as an assistant strength & conditioning coach at Fordham University in 2017.

During the 2021 season, Taibe was the assistant women’s volleyball coach at John Jay College.  Taibe had previously coached at SUNY FIT in 2015 as assistant women’s volleyball coach.

Hailing from Queens, Taibe attended The Mary Louis Academy, where she graduated in 2007. From 2014-19, Taibe coached the girls' volleyball teams at TMLA, and worked as a physical education and health teacher from 2018-19.  During her tenure at TMLA, Taibe led the varsity team to five conference championships, four city championships and a pair of third place finishes at the New York State championships. 

Taibe then worked as a physical education teacher and head coach for lacrosse, swimming and volleyball at The Dalton School from 2019-2020.

From 2009-2020, Taibe was a senior ocean lifeguard for the town of Southampton.  Ranked as a nationally team competitor, Taibe would annually train 30+ junior lifeguards and lead 5+ new hires to identify and mitigate risk.  She has also spent time as a High Performance Intern for USA Swimming in Colorado Springs.

Since 2021, Taibe has served as head of art department at The Smith School, where she also coaches coed basketball.

In 2018, Taibe worked at the United States Olympic Committee, holding roles in business development as a women’s network organizer while also serving in the grant review committee.
