Branislav Grujic

York College announced that Branislav Grujic will service as tennis consultant for the men’s and women’s programs in 2022-23. He is now in his third years running both programs.  

Grujic on being announced by York College:

“I plan to grow the programs by attracting men and women to join the team and by working hard at practices to develop good players. I see the Cardinals compete for a CUNYAC title.  I want York to be proud of this program and see the Cardinals compete for a CUNYAC title. We are focused on transforming our student-athletes to compete against high-level competition. It will take some time, but our coaching staff is great and ready to succeed.”

As a coach for over 30 years, Grujic’s experience includes the development of beginners and professional players. From 2017-18, Grujic was a touring coach for Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) players Katie DeRienzo and Nastja Kolar (WTA 390), where he was responsible for on court coaching and practices, mental training, physical conditioning and day-to-day scheduling. In 2018, Grujic coached Aleksandra Krunic at the US Open, who he previously coached from 
2014-16 to a WTA ranking of 39th.

From 2010-17, Grujic served as the assistant head pro and director of junior sports education programs at Port Washington Tennis Academy.  Grujic oversaw the Tournament Training Center (TTC), which is comprised of elite tournament players who compete in international, national and sectional tournaments to acquire top ITF/USTA rankings.  He coordinated USTA sanctioned national and sectional tournaments in addition to traveling to tournaments with WTA and ITF players.  Grujic got his start at Port Washington Tennis Academy as tennis coach from 2000-10.

Grujic was on the coaching staff for the Serbian team at the 2013 Davis Cup.

His credentials also include: United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) Sports Science Specialist (2006), United States Tennis Association (USTA) Sport Science Level 1, 2A, 2B, 2C (2006-07) and USTA High Performance Coaching Program (2004). Grujic upgraded his USPTA certificate rating to Professional 1 (2003), Professional 2 (2002) and Professional 3 (2001).  In 2000, Grujic achieved his International Tennis Federation (ITF) Coach Level 1 certification.  He also has a National Diploma Rating–Referee Serbia (1999).

Since 2003, Grujic has been a National/Divisional Certified Tester of the USPTA.  The USTPA has recognized Grujic in 2005 and 2013 as the Eastern Division Tester of the Year award winner, and in 2006, was named the Long Island Volunteer of the Year.  In 2006, Grujic served as the host pro at USPTA Eastern Division Convention, and attended the 2012 USTA High Performance Tennis program seminar at the U.S. Open.

From 1996-98, Grujic coached the Yugoslav Junior National Team.  Grujic was the head coach from 1990-96 at Senjak Tennis Club in Belgrade, Serbia.

Grujic grew up in Belgrade, and is a father to two, son, Milos, and daughter, Tamara.  Milos played offensive lineman for the Belgrade Wolves of the Central European Football League (CEFL).
