Joel Grant

Joel Grant was appointed York College assistant men’s soccer coach during the 2022-23 academic year. 

“It is a blessing and an honor for me to continue passing on the training I have received which helped me to have a don't quit personally.  I  believe hard work and dedication leads to success in all aspects of life.” - expressed Grant

Hailing from Kingston, Jamaica, Grant represented his country at the junior and intermediate levels as goalkeeper from 1988-96.

As a 1998 graduate from West Indies College High School, Grant played semi-professional in the minor and major leagues for Santos FC (1989-93), Molynes United (1994-2004), Constant Spring  F.C. (2005-07) and Real Mona (2007-09).

In the back end of his playing career, Grant took on additional leadership roles by passing on the experience and technical skills gained to junior players from 2005-09.

Grant is no stranger to York, having previously worked as a college assistant to the international student advisor in the office of the registrar from 2009-19.  

Since 2013, Grant has built a career in the airline industry, working for Virgin Atlantic Airways and Atlas Air Worldwide. With over eight years of experience working for Virgin Atlantic Airways, Grant served as duty manager and turn coordinator from 2013-20, and since 2022, has held the position as duty manager.  From 2021-22, Grant was JFK assistant station manager of operations for Atlas Air Worldwide.

Grant currently resides in the Jamaica section of Queens.
