www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's soccer opened its 2026 slate with a home meeting against the Sarah Lawrence College Gryphons (1-1). With most of the match played in a competitive game-state, the Gryphons tacked on two late goals to seal a 3-0 victory at York College Outdoor Athletic Complex
First-Half Breakdown
Dylan Peavoy's header at 16:58 almost broke the deadlock, but York netminder
Alexander Cruz (0-1) made a sprawling save. The Gryphons did find the goal almost five minutes later, after Matthew Donnis found Henry Seas in transition.
Derick Aboagye-Frimpong almost equalized for the Cardinals in the 42nd minute, as his powerful free kick was palmed away by Sarah Lawrence goalkeeper Jacob Freed (1-0).
Second-Half Breakdown
Aboagye-Frimpong had York's best opportunity in the second period, as his long-range strike at 60:22 stung the hands of reserve goaltender Joseph Vaca. Searching for a second goal, Ryan Gunderson came close, as his effort near the 18-yard box banged off the woodwork in the 82nd minute. The Gryphons did not have to wait much longer, as quickfire goals from Chase Bolden and Kairos Diaz in the final four minutes sealed the 3-0 scoreline.

Sarah Lawrence had the edge in shots (17-7), shots on target (7-3), and corners (7-2). In goal, Cruz made five stops for York, while Freed and Vaca pitched a shutout for the Gryphons.
