www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's volleyball opened its road slate Saturday with non-conference play at the Maritime College tri-match inside Reisenberg Gymnasium, falling in straight sets to the Pratt Institute Cannoneers (4-3) by scores of 25-18, 25-15, and 25-14, followed by a 25-19, 25-6, and 25-7 setback against the host Privateers (1-8).
Match 1: Pratt 3, York 0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-14)
First Set Breakdown
- York took a 5-3 lead via two kills by Zia Lefebvre, a smackdown from Widmaelle Drouillard, and one spike from MaliaJewel Bembry-Morris.
- The Cannoneers racked up seven consecutive points to go up five (10-5).
- Pratt extended the edge to eight (17-9) following a kill and an ace by Colleen Russell.
- Trailing by double digits (21-11), the Cardinals battled back to trim the deficit to six (24-18) after an ace by Sonia Correa, before Pratt's eventual set victory.
Second Set Breakdown
- Both squads split the first 10 points, with Drouillard's ace leveling the score at five.
- A pair of aces by Eleanor Peck capped off a 10-2 Cannoneer burst to go up eight (15-7).
