Jonte Wallace was honored Tuesday by the CUNYAC as the Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for games played Feb. 9-15. This laurel is the freshman's fifth consecutive CUNYAC Rookie distinction, and his sixth of the campaign. Wallace now joins
Aidony Nivar (2023-24) with six conference Rookie of the Week selections.
The all-around forward once again had another week for York, putting up 13.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game. Facing Baruch College (Feb. 11), Wallace tallied seven points, nine rebounds, and a team-best six dimes. At Brooklyn College two days later, he went back to his scoring ways, netting a team-leading 19 points (8-of-16 FG) to go along with eight rebounds and a career-high seven assists.
In his first regular season, Wallace averaged 13.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. In conference action, the freshman elevated his scoring output to a team-best 15.4 points per game. Compared to other CUNYAC players, he ranks in the top 10 in scoring (6th), rebounding (8th), and steals (5th).
