@yorkcardinals Men’s Soccer Caps Off Non-Conference Slate with Road Test at Saint Elizabeth

York College defends home turf Wednesday (Oct. 1) with its CUNYAC opener at against Lehman College

MORRISTOWN, NJ --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's soccer held strong through the first half, trailing 1-0 at the break, but ultimately saw its three-match unbeaten streak come to an end with a 6-0 road loss to the Saint Elizabeth University Eagles (1-3-3) in Saturday's non-conference finale at SEU Soccer Field.

First-Half Breakdown
The opening half featured plenty of back-and-forth action, with York generating several quality chances in the attacking third. Ernest Bawilliam put the Cardinals into the shot column early with a shot on goal at 3:43, followed by a 13th-minute effort on target from Derick Aboagye-Frimpong. York ramped up the pressure in the 32nd minute, as Aboagye-Frimpong forced another save before Christopher Garcia's follow-up attempt — just 34 seconds later after a corner kick — was also stopped.

Despite the strong offensive push, Saint Elizabeth broke through at 36:15, when Zach Ahmed finished off a pass from Bruce Santana for the eventual game-winning goal. York continued to press in the closing minutes of the half, creating chances from Garcia (37:55), Hammed Durojaye (40:21), and Aboagye-Frimpong (44:40) before the halftime whistle.
York outshot the Eagles 10-9 in the half, forcing six saves from SEU keeper Jonathan Ramirez Delgado. On the other end, George Molina (1-3-2) turned in a strong performance with eight first-half saves on 18 shots faced to keep York within striking distance at the break.

Second-Half Breakdown
Saint Elizabeth broke the match open in the second half, beginning with Paul Piotrowski's finish at 52:54, followed just over a minute later by a quick strike from Marvin Miranda at 54:03 to make it 3-0. The Eagles continued to apply pressure, converting five of their 12 second-half shots during a stretch that saw them score four times in less than 15 minutes to take full control.

York generated a pair of opportunities, with Jason Valeriano recording a shot in the 64th minute and Troy Batac testing the keeper with a shot on goal at 71:03. Saint Elizabeth capped the 6-0 scoreline in the 80th minute on a goal from Tugay Bozogluer.

Inside the Box Score
York posted a season-best 58.3% shots on goal percentage, putting seven of their 12 attempts on target. Saint Elizabeth held the advantage in shots (30-12), shots on goal (15-7), and corner kicks (6-3). Both goalkeepers recorded seven saves in the contest.
