JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College announced the appointment of Hunter Meitz as assistant men's soccer coach ahead of the 2025 season. With a background in goalkeeping, Meitz will assist third-year head coach Brahim Chhab.

York College has now given me the ability to take those life lessons and create building blocks for my athletes, so that they can be as successful as possible, on and off the field." - Hunter Meitz

Meitz comes to York with extensive experience as a goalkeeper in Europe. From 2021-2024, he played with five different teams across three leagues in Sweden and Spain. Those clubs include Stöde IF, Älgarna-Härnösand IF, Lucksta IF, Newroz FC, and, most recently, C.D. Valfonda of the Spanish fourth division. 

Prior to his European journey, Meitz had trials with Swedish first-tier club Östersunds FK in 2020, the LA Galaxy in 2019, and USL Championship organization Nashville SC in 2018. While he trained with clubs in the top two U.S. leagues, Meitz played for the USL 2 franchise Westchester Flames from 2018-2019. 

As a former NCAA Division III student-athlete, Meitz began his collegiate career at Farmingdale State College in 2015 before transferring to St. Joseph's University (Long Island), where he played two seasons (2016–2017) and graduated with a degree in psychology.  Meitz is currently enrolled at National University, where he is expected to earn a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in December 2025.

A native of Huntington Station, New York, Meitz holds a U.S. Soccer Grassroots License and is working toward completing his U.S. Soccer D License.
