BRONXÂ --- (
www.YORKATHLETICS.com)Â York College softball wrapped up its 2025 campaign Friday afternoon with a CUNYAC road doubleheader against the Lehman College Lightning (10-20, 2-8 CUNYAC) at South Field. Lehman emerged victorious in both games, winning 16-1 in the opener and 15-0 in the second matchup.
Game 1: Lehman 16, York 1Â (5 Inn.)
- Samantha Panameno walked in the first inning to ignite a Cardinal rally. She then crossed the plate following a combination of an Alyssa De La Rosa force out and a throwing error. Threatening to add on with runners on first and second and two outs, Jeana Clemons was caught stealing to limit the damage.
- Lehman brought eight batters to the plate in the bottom of the frame, scoring four runs on three hits and two errors. An RBI triple from Jirah Espina and a run-scoring double by Damaris Adames (2-for-3, 2 R, RBI) did the heavy damage in the rally.
- Adames (W, 1-4: 5 IP, R, 2 BB, 8 SO) retired the side via strikeout in the top of the second inning.
- Patria Sanchez's (2-for-3, R, 2 RBI) RBI infield single tacked on another run to the Lightning's total in the bottom of the second.Â
- Breaking the game open, Lehman added seven runs in the third frame on the strength of four hits and four errors, making the scoreline 12-1.Â
- Lizbeth Perez (2-for-4, 4 R, 3 RBI) smacked a three-run dinger in the fourth stanza to help finalize the Lightning's 16-run output.
- Adames generated a 1-2-3 fifth inning to settle the 16-1 scoreline.
- Ayana Saavedra (L, 3-13: 4 IP, 11 H, 8 ER, BB) took the loss for York.
Game 2: Lehman 15, York 0 (5 Inn.)
- Eight hitters faced Saavedra (L, 3-14: 3 IP, 8 H,7 ER, 4 BB, 2 SO) in the bottom of the first frame, with Lehman racing out to a 4-0 edge thanks to three hits and timely baserunning.
- Saavedra singled in the top of the second to register York in the hit column, but was subsequently caught stealing to end a possible threat.
- Lizbeth Perez (2-for-3, 2 R) stole home in the second to tack on another Lightning run.
- Lehman added seven runs to the scoreboard in the bottom of the third. Run-scoring singles from Angelina Perez (2 R, RBI) and Elba Gonzalez (1-for-2, R, 2 RBI), culminating with a 2-RBI double from Adames (2-for-2, 2 R, 2 RBI) extended the lead 12-0.
- De La Rosa poked a two-out single in the fourth to collect one of three hits for the Cardinals.
- Three walks and a hit-by-pitch produced a three-run fourth stanza for the Lightning.
- Michelle Mancuso led off York's fifth inning with a single to right field. Angelina Perez (W, 6-6: 5 IP, 3 H, 6 SO) struck out the side to preserve the 15-0 scoreline.Â
