FLUSHING, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College center Brandon Barrett added to his impressive campaign, claiming the CUNYAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week laurel for games played February 3-9. Barrett has won four CUNYAC Weekly Rookie of the Week honors, trailing only Omari Phipps (2007-08) and Aidony Nivar (2023-34) for the most weekly rookie selections in program history.

Helping the Cardinals to a 1-1 record last week, Barrett averaged 13.0 points, 15.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.0 blocks per game. Controlling the paint against the CCNY Beavers (Feb. 4), the center totaled 18 points (9-of-18 FG), a career-best 20 rebounds, three assists, three blocks, and two steals. The rookie's rim protection helped York outscore CCNY 36-26 in the paint. In a road matchup against Lehman College, Barrett contributed eight points and a team-best 10 boards. 

Across 19 contests this season, the Queens native paces the squad in rebounds (11.8) and blocks (2.1) per game and ranks second in scoring (13.9). According to the CUNYAC leaderboard, Barrett tops the conference in rebounds, is second in blocks, third in field goal percentage (.485), and is 11th in points per game. On a national scale, he places highly in rebounds per game (9th), defensive rebounds per game (8.53, 8th), offensive rebounds per game (3.32, T-35th), double-doubles (11, T-14th), and blocks per game (27th).
