Alicia Gumbs '25 to the women's basketball coaching staff for the 2025–26 season. A two-time CUNYAC All-Star, Gumbs now returns to the Cardinals in a new role after a highly productive collegiate career.
Across 81 career games, Gumbs averaged 16.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.2 steals per contest. Gumbs reached the 1,000-point milestone with a layup at Centenary University on December 11, 2024, and finished with 1,316 career points—the third-highest total in program history. The standout guard also ranks among York's all-time top five in field goals, free throws, points per game, assists, and assists per game. Before becoming the team's primary offensive option in her final two seasons, Gumbs played a key role in York's back-to-back CUNYAC Championship semifinal appearances in 2021–22 and 2022–23.
Gumbs' sustained excellence earned her recognition from both the CUNYAC and the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA). She was a two-time CUNYAC All-Star Second Team honoree (2023–24, 2024–25) and a 2024–25 MBWA Division III Women's Basketball Honorable Mention selection. Over her career, Gumbs also accumulated three CUNYAC weekly awards and nine MBWA weekly honors. In addition, Gumbs claimed two York College Female Student-Athlete of the Year awards and the York College Female Career Award.
A multi-sport student-athlete, Gumbs competed in three seasons of softball and two seasons of women's volleyball, highlighting her all-around athletic ability. A graduate of Hillcrest High School, she earned her York College degree in movement science.
