@yorkcardinals Women’s Basketball lifts lid on 2025-26 campaign at Ramapo

York College returns to the hardwood Monday (Nov. 12) with its home opener against St. Joseph’s University (Brooklyn)

MAHWAH, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's basketball opened the 2025-26 season Saturday against the Ramapo College Roadrunners (1-0), dropping a 75-15 non-conference road decision inside Bradley Center.  

First-Half Breakdown
Ramapo racked up the first eleven points before Beautifull Earth netted the Cardinals' first bucket of the season at the 6:10 mark of the first quarter. Jocelyn Huancaya's transition layup capped off a 19-4 period for the Roadrunners. Continuing its momentum, Ramapo began the second quarter on a 10-0 burst to extend the lead to 26 (30-4). Buckets by Arta Gjeloshi and Amaniya Aiken trimmed the deficit to 22 (30-8). Gjeloshi triple with 11 seconds left in the half made it a 38-11 scoreline. 

Second-Half Breakdown
The Roadrunners outscored York 22-0 in the third stanza and 15-4 in the final frame to close out a 75-15 outcome.

Leading the Cardinals
Gjeloshi paced the team with nine points (3-of-6 FG, 1-of-3 3FG, 2-of-4 FT), three steals, and two rebounds. Earth hauled in a team-best seven rebounds, and Tyla Hooks (4) and Imani Gibson (4) combined for eight boards. Aiken contributed defensively with one block and one steal. Chamiya Foy tallied the squad's lone assist. 
 
For Ramapo

Lauren Flatt produced an all-around display of 14 points (5-of-9 FG, 4-of-6 3FG), five rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Vanessa Kohler (11) and Jelly Quadrino (10) both scored double-figure points. Jayda Sharp grabbed a team-high seven rebounds, and Denay Jones (4) and Marjorie Boyle (4) matched Flatt's four-steal mark. Ava Burke had a game-leading two blocks as well.

The Cardinals (0-1) return to action Monday (Nov. 10) inside York Gymnasium with a non-conference matchup against the St. Joseph's University (Brooklyn) Bears (1-0) at 6 p.m.
