www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's volleyball exchanged blows with the Baruch College Bearcats (7-13, 4-1 CUNYAC) in the first and third sets Tuesday evening, but ultimately fell in straight sets (25-17, 25-6, 25-19) in a CUNYAC encounter from ARC Arena.
First Set Breakdown
- Two kills from Zia Lefebvre sparked an early 6-3 York edge.
- Jasmine Dias extended the Cardinal advantage to five (10-5) following two aces.
- Four aces by Mariajose Ortiz-Marmolejo sparked a 9-0 Baruch stretch to lead by four (14-10).
- Smackdowns by Lefebvre, Dias, and Madison Plaza made it an 18-15 scoreline.
- Ahead 21-17, the Bearcats claimed the final four points for a 25-17 victory.
Second Set Breakdown
- Baruch continued its first-set momentum with a 13-1 start, capped off by Jennifer Dong's ace.
- The teams split the ensuing 10 points, with the Bearcats maintaining their 12-point advantage (18-6).

- Dias served a team-leading three aces and added two kills.
- Plaza totaled two kills, and Mateo chipped in with two aces.
- Samantha Panameno orchestrated the attack with nine assists and contributed defensively with four digs.
For Baruch
- Alicia Graves paced the squad with nine points (eight kills, one solo block, one block assist).
- Dong spiked down five kills and served three aces.
- Ortiz-Marmolejo served a match-best six aces, and Karolina Lundqvist chipped in with six kills.
- Karen Pozo Castro (15) and Isabel Torres (7) distributed 22 of the team's 24 assists.
