www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's tennis remained competitive Friday afternoon in a CUYAC matchup against John Jay College (2-7, 2-3 CUNYAC). Despite collecting two singles triumphs, the Bloodhounds emerged victorious 5-2 from York College Courts.
Winning her third singles match in the last four attempts,
Gabriela Pirondi defeated Muy Sim Wong 6-3, 6-0 on the No. 2 court. Adding on,
Melanie Guerrero orchestrated her first-career victory, claiming a 10-8 supertiebreak result at the No. 4 singles level.
Julia Wyman claimed eight individual games on the No. 3 court,
Franeidy Mauricio competed on the No. 1 court for the sixth time this season, and
Jada Powell rounded out the singles lineup with two games.
In doubles action, Pirondi and Wyman lost a heartbreaking tiebreak 7-6 (8-6), as the pair looked for their third win in four tries. Teaming up for just the second time, Mauricio and Guerrero took three games at the No. 2 level.
