www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's volleyball took on the Hunter College Hawks (6-18, 2-2 CUNYAC) Thursday evening, falling in straight sets (25-9, 25-15, 25-9) in a CUNYAC encounter from York College Gymnasium.
First Set Breakdown
- Jaymie Mateo got one of York's two points in the set, as her kill trimmed the deficit to two (4-2).
- Ahead 6-3, Hunter went on a 7-0 burst to lead by double-digits (13-3).
- Samantha Panameno's ace made it a 16-8 scoreline.
- The Hawks utilized a 9-1 burst to finish the job 25-9.
Second Set Breakdown
- Hunter raced out to an 8-2 advantage.
- The Cardinals did not give up, however, as a 7-5 mini-run cut the margin to four (13-9). Zia Lefebvre produced two kills during that stretch.
- A kill by Vera Montalbano pushed the Hawks' advantage to seven (17-10).
- Two kills by Chamiya Foy helped make it a four-point deficit (17-13) once again.
- Pulling away, the Hawks went on an 8-2 spurt to seal a 25-15 result.
Third Set Breakdown
- York took a match-best three-point lead (5-2) following a pair of Hunter attack errors.
- Three aces by Michelle Liu sparked an 8-0 rally to give the Hawks a 10-5 edge.
- A pair of smackdowns by Lefebvre made it a 12-7 scoreline before the Hawks took over with a 12-0 explosion to set up match point.
- Kassidy Kruz Nuesi's kill put the finishing touches on a 25-9 third-set triumph.
Leading the Cardinals
- Foy paced the squad with a career-high five kills (.625 percentage) to go along with 1.5 blocks.
- Lefebvre tallied four kills.
- Mateo and Panameno each recorded a service ace, and Panameno orchestrated the offense with seven assists.
- Defensively, Panameno, Madison Plaza, and Shaday Torres each scooped up two digs.
For Hunter
- Lily Mattison powered home a match-best 12 digs and had three block assists.
- Amina Moummad produced an all-around performance of five aces, four kills, and five digs.
- Montalbano totaled six kills, and Varvara Kudinova managed a match-high seven digs.
- Deanna Vinitski (15) and Madeline Snyder (5) provided 20 assists.

York generated 56 attacks and swung at a -.125 pace. The Hawks swung 65 times at a .308 rate. Additionally, Hunter also had more kills (36-11), aces (12-2), assists (27-9), digs (25-9), and total blocks (7-4).
