JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's tennis battled hard Tuesday afternoon in a doubleheader against CUNYAC opponent Albertus Magnus College (2-7, 1-4 CUNYAC). Despite York winning seven individual matchups across the two contests, the Falcons grabbed the first leg 5-2 and collected a 4-3 second-leg victory from York College Courts. The three points are the program's most since an October 2021 CUNYAC meeting against John Jay College.

Match 1: Albertus Magnus 5, York 2

The duo of Gabriela Pirondi and Julia Wyman shined, claiming a 6-3 victory on the No. 1 doubles level. 

In singles competition, Pirodni grabbed her first singles triumph with a 6-1, 6-2 scoreline on the No. 2 court over opponent Gabby Augustin. Wyman continued her strong form with a 7-6 (6-4), 6-0 victory at the No. 3 level. Rounding off the Cardinal rotation, Franeidy Mauricio grabbed six games at No. 1 singles and Jada Powell generated five games at No. 4 singles.

The Wyman / Pirondi pairing continued to dominate, triumphing 6-1 on the No. 1 level. 

Making just her second appearance on the No. 1 singles court, Pirondi defeated Shawna Glasgow 8-3. Slotting at the No. 2 court, Mauricio claimed her first-career victory with an 8-2 display over Augustin. Wyman continued the Cardinal singles flurry by winning 8-4 at the No. 3 level. Powell snatched four games at No. 4 singles to finish off the afternoon.
