www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's soccer concluded its non-conference home schedule Saturday afternoon with a battle versus the Medgar Evers College Cougars (2-6-1), falling 3-1 in a hard-fought battle from York College Athletic Complex.
First-Half Breakdown
A defensive battle early on, there were a combined four shots in the opening 20 minutes. Starting to make headway, Medgar Evers' Pelumi Atkinson struck the Cardinal crossbar at the 24:00 mark. About three minutes later, Bertini Jean curled one home from a corner to give the Cougars a 1-0 advantage. Bernado Guerrier had an opportunity to make it 2-0 to Medgar in the 34th minute, but York goalkeeper
George Molina was equal to the task.
Second-Half Breakdown
Despite neither team controlling the play, Jean doubled Medgar's lead in the 58th minute as his long shot found the back of the net. Looking for an immediate response, forward

Stanley Sanchez bundled one home from the ensuing corner to cut the deficit to 3-1 in the 76th minute. This was Sanchez's third goal in seven matches. Seck had two fantastic chances to score the team's second goal, but his shots found the post and Nunez's arms.

Medgar Evers had the advantage in shots (23-16) and shots on target (9-4), while both teams manufactured six corners. York struck the woodwork twice on shots, and the Cougars did it once. In goal, Nunez (2-5-1) recorded three saves for Medgar, and Molina (1-3-1) stopped his shots.
