www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's volleyball closed out their CUNYAC slate schedule Tuesday evening, falling in straight sets (25-7, 25-23, 25-18) on the road to the John Jay College Bloodhounds (16-7, 9-5 CUNYAC) inside The Doghouse.
First Set Breakdown
- A pair of kills by Kai Barriffe-Johnson got John Jay out to a 5-1 lead.
- Ahead 6-3, an extended 12-2 burst pushed the Bloodhounds' edge to 13 (18-5).
- Stephen Daly's smack down closed out a 25-7 set win for John Jay
Second Set Breakdown
- Two kills by Alexis Ramirez helped keep York level with John Jay at five.
- David Heyliger, Jr. recorded two kills of his own, knotting the score at nine.
- Gaining control, Barriffe-Johnson's three kills buoyed a 7-1 burst from the Bloodhounds to take a 16-10 advantage.
- Charging back, Heyliger, Jr. spearheaded an 8-3 blitz following four more kills.
- Trailing 21-19, York took a 22-21 lead after Barriffe-Johnson committed three consecutive attack errors by Barriffe-Johnson.
- Barriffe-Johnson redeemed himself after his two kills helped seal a 25-23 triumph for John Jay.
Third Set Breakdown
- Behind 9-4, the Cardinals cut it one (12-11) after Heyliger, Jr. drilled down four kills.
- The Bloodhounds utilized a 4-0 burst to give them a 16-11 edge.
- York trimmed the deficit to two (18-16) following a kill by Heyliger, Jr..
- John Jay won a 25-18 decision after finishing the stanza on a 7-2 burst.
Leading The Cardinals
- Heyliger, Jr. nailed down a match-leading 18 kills on 36 swings to attack at a .306 clip.
- Stanley Sanchez directed York's offense with 20 assists and added one ace.
- Ramirez totaled four kills to hit .250 while posting five digs.
- Marvin Mondesir scooped seven digs and served one ace.
- Ahmed Algendy chipped in five digs.
For John Jay
- Barriffe-Johnson led John Jay to victory with 15 kills at a rate of .480.
- Steven Ajazi topped out at a match-leading .778 hitting percentage with seven kills.
- Alex Bridgelall handed out 20 assists and delivered two aces.
- Daly served a match-high three aces.

York hit .224 on 58 attacks as opposed to John Jay's .397 attack rate on 73 swings. The Cardinals owned the advantage in digs (23-22) while John Jay had the edge in points (46-27), kills (32-22), aces (9-2), and assists (32-22).
