NEW YORK --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's basketball guard Alicia Gumbs was recognized Tuesday by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) as a Divisions II-III Honorable Mention selection for games played February 12-18. This laurel makes it five career MBWA weekly honors and four this campaign. 

Gumbs had three scoring outbursts for the York Cardinals last week, averaging 25.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 3.3 steals per game. Facing John Jay College (Feb. 12), Gumbs had a team-high 21 points (7-of-11 FT) to go along with seven rebounds and three assists in a 77-38 defeat. Returning to home court against Hunter College (Feb. 14), the junior poured in a game-high 32 points (10-of-17 FG, 11-of-15 FT) while totaling eight boards and six steals. Playing the Bloodhounds on home surface the next day (Feb. 15), the Queens native recorded a double-double with 23 points (3-of-7 3FG, 6-of-7 FT) and 13 boards.

In 18 games overall, the speedy guard is averaging 22.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. A singular offensive force, Gumbs has scored 57.4 percent of the team's points and has accumulated 54.5 percent of the team's assists.

Per the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) hierarchy, the three-year veteran is first in minutes (39.8), fourth in points, eighth in rebounds, and ninth in assists per game. According to the NCAA Division III Statistical Rankings Summary, Gumbs leads the nation in minutes per game and ranks 10th in points per contest.
