Brahim Chhab elevated to @yorkcardinals head men’s soccer coach

Brahim Chhab served as assistant men’s soccer coach at York College during the 2022 season

JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College announced Friday that assistant coach Brahim Chhab has been elevated to lead the men's soccer program as head coach ahead of the 2023 season.  

Chhab arrived at York during the 2022 season, taking over for Courtney Boothe, who recently resigned after two seasons at the helm. Boothe previously served as an assistant coach since 2018.

"I am honored to be named the new men's soccer head coach for York College. I look forward to continuing what we started while leading a new chapter of the program. The goal is to build a strong program at York while guiding our student-athletes toward success. We are so excited to have a new state-of-the-art soccer field on campus in 2024, and I admire York's dedication to providing great sports programs for its student-athletes." - said Chhab.  

Since 2001, Chhab has served as director of coaching at Aspire Soccer USA. In addition to recruiting players, trainers, and assistant coaches, Chhab oversees the general functions and operations of the program while leading the liaison between USA and European Soccer Player Development Centers.  

From 1995-2001, Chhab was Major League Soccer's regional director of youth and player development of Region North East. Chhab conducted clinics for coaches and player development training programs for select local and regional teams.  

Fluent in five languages, Chhab has firsthand experience training elite soccer players worldwide, including strong ties to Brazil and France. Chhab holds world-class renowned professional soccer national and international coaching licenses from USA, Brazil, and France, accredited and certified by FIFA. He has achieved a US Soccer National Coaching A license, CBF Brazilian National Coaching A license of Professional Soccer, FPF Federation of São Paulo Coaching license, FFF French Diploma DES (Superior diploma of coaching), and FIFA international certificate of coaching University of São Paulo coaching certificate.

Chhab earned a degree in superior studies of sports science at UREPS Regional University of Sports and Physical Education in France. He also earned a master's degree in sports science and human movement from Bellevue Institute of Superior Studies of Sports Performance in Morocco. He researched in training elite athletes at strength and speed performance, directed by Dr. and former director of Qatar national Olympic Soccer team Harmatallah sbai Moulay Hassan.

In addition to his soccer experience, Chhab competed in the 400-meter event as a member of the Moroccan track and field national team from 1984-88.

Chhab currently resides in Glen Cove, New York.
