@yorkcardinals Men’s Tennis takes trio of points from Sarah Lawrence in singles play

York College will look to add a tune-up match to the schedule ahead of the 2023 CUNYAC Championship Tournament first-round on April 20

BRONXVILLE, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's tennis battled Tuesday evening, claiming victory in three singles matches against the Sarah Lawrence Gryphons (1-5) before suffering a 6-3 non-conference road setback from Sarah Lawrence Courts.

"The guys fought hard and have improved tremendously. They have a great bond and support each other which is the true meaning of playing as a team,"-said assistant coach Kathleen DeRienzo

On the No. 3 doubles court, Abubakar Khamis and Firdaus Abdulai took a season-high six games as a pair. The Cardinals had success in singles competition, taking three of the six matches. Playing in No. 3 singles, Sangay Yoezer captured his first victory in a super tiebreaker against Nikita Knecht. Yoezer's triumph was York's first of the season in the No. 3 position.  Khamis took home his second victory in three matches, winning in a super tiebreaker in No. 5 singles. Abdulai also notched his second triumph of the campaign in No. 6 singles. In No. 4 singles, Abimael Deliska picked up a season-best six games.
