Aidony Nivar was recognized Monday, as the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) released its weekly awards for games played November. 13-19.
Nivar broke out this past week for the Cardinals, averaging 15.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.7 steals per game while shooting 47.2 percent from the field and 45.8 percent from downtown.
Playing Manhattanville College (Nov. 15), he dropped a career-high 19 points (7-of-13 FG, 5-of-10 3FG) to go along with four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. The Dominican native followed that performance up with a 17-point (6-of-12 FG, 4-of-8 3FG) three-steal effort against Stevenson University (Nov. 17). In a 73-72 victory against the Notre Dame (MD) Gators, Nivar netted 11 points (4-of-11 FG), contributing four boards and two steals as well.
In four games this season, the rookie has averaged 13.8 points per game, 3.8 rebounds per game, and 2.0 steals a contest. Shooting-wise, Nivar is connecting on 43.5 percent (20-of-46) of his shots and a team-leading 39.4 percent (13-of-33) from downtown. His three-point mark ranks fifth in the CUNYAC.
