Mac-Dege Dessources gained recognition Tuesday by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) as a Divisions II-III Weekly Honor Roll selection for games played January 2-8.
Dessources averaged 16.5 points, 16.5 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game while shooting 58.3 percent (14-of-24) from the field this past week. In York's home game against Baruch College (Jan. 3), Dessources scored 19 points (9-of-13 FG) and grabbed 12 rebounds. In a road CUNYAC 60-50 win against John Jay College (Jan. 6), the center totaled 14 points and game-highs in rebounds (21) and blocks (4). This performance was her third such game with over 20 rebounds this year and her 50th career double-double.
In 11 games this season, the Harlem native is averaging 18.5 points, 14.5 rebounds, and a career-high 2.8 blocks per game. Efficiency-wise, she is shooting 49.7 percent (86-of-173) from the floor.
Dessources is atop the CUNYAC leaderboard in rebounding and ranks highly in scoring (4th), blocks per game (2nd), and field goal percentage (2nd). In the latest NCAA Division III Statistical Rankings Summary, Dessources is second in rebounds per game, tied for sixth in double-doubles, tied for 14th in blocks per game, 49th in points per game, and 61st in field goal percentage.
