York College women’s basketball center Mac-Dege Dessources became the program’s first-ever D3Hoops.com Team of the Week honoree and also garnered her second Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Honorable Mention selection of the season


JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.comYork College women's basketball junior center Mac-Dege Dessources became the program's first-ever D3hoops.com Team of the Week selection after a four-game stretch stat saw her average 25.0 points and 15.7 rebounds, announced Tuesday.  The New York native was also recognized by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Honorable Mention selection for the second-consecutive week.

Dessources posted four double-doubles in leading York to a 3-1 week.  She also contributed 2.5 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 53.7 percent (43-of-80) from the field and 53.8 percent (14-of-26) from the free-throw line.  Dessources opened the week at Baruch College (Feb. 7), leading the Cardinals to victory over the Bearcats for the third time in four games with a 77-59 CUNYAC road win.  She scored 24 of her career-best 43 points (20-of-32 FG) in the first half to set a single-game program scoring record.  Dessources added 25 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals to her statline to cement the win.  In a 55-38 CUNYAC home win against CCNY (Feb. 9), Dessources totaled 14 points (6-of-12 FG), 13 rebounds, four assists and one steal to extend York's winning streak to four games versus the Beavers.  Against Hunter College (Feb. 11), Dessources produced 24 points (9-of-19 FG), 10 rebounds (eight offensive), two blocks and one steal in a 57-48 CUNYAC setback at home to split the season series.  In a 55-45 CUNYAC victory at Lehman College (Feb. 13), Dessources closed out the week with 19 points (8-of-17 FG), 15 rebounds (seven offensive) and two blocks to post her 10th double-double of the season (39th career) on the way to securing the series win against the Lightning for the third-straight season. 

In 14 games played entering the week, Dessources leads the CUNYAC with 20.5 points, 14.5 rebounds and 2.3 blocks, and also averages 1.9 assists and 0.9 steals in 32.9 minutes per contest.  She shoots 51.5 percent (124-of-241) from the floor and 54.2 percent (39-of-72) from the charity stripe.  Dessources currently ranks among the NCAA Division III leaders in points per game (13th), rebounds per game (2nd), rebounds (84th, 203), defensive rebounds per game (21st, 8.3), offensive rebounds per game (2nd, 6.2), blocked shots per game (31st), blocked shots (94th, 32), double-doubles (41st) and field-goal percentage (42nd).

The Cardinals (7-9, 6-6 CUNYAC) advance to CUNYAC Championship play for the second-straight season, starting Sunday (Feb. 20) with a first-round matchup.  The 2022 tournament bracket will be released following the remaining CUNYAC games on Wednesday.
