www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's basketball were unable to hold off the visiting Western Connecticut State University Wolves (7-0) in non-conference action Friday night, falling 63-58 in overtime inside York College Gymnasium. The Cardinals played their first overtime game since December 13, 2019, when York faced SUNY Potsdam.

How it Happened
- WestConn took a 10-7 lead at 13:07 after Jaeden Carr made a driving layup.
- William Brown's three triples keyed an 11-1 run for York, giving the Cardinals a seven-point advantage (18-11).
- Keeshawn Jones' layup with 4:35 left in the first half cut the deficit to four (22-18) for the Wolves.
- York's first-half advantage blossomed to as many as nine (30-21) when Olawale Kila made a fastbreak layup with 28 seconds remaining.
- Jones' triple with nine seconds showing on the clock finished off the scoring, with the Cardinals up 30-24 at the break.
- York stretched its lead to a game-high 11 (41-30) after Devine Chisholm's three at 13:50.
- The Wolves responded with an 8-0 spurt, cutting the deficit to three (41-38).
- Olawake Kila's triple capped off a mini 5-0 Cardinal run to push the lead to eight (46-38).
- Jaheim Young's layup with 3:49 remaining finished off a 14-2 burst for WestConn, giving the Wolves a four-point lead (52-48).
- York regained the lead at 1:56 after Kila's layup.
- WestConn knotted the score at 54 right before the end of regulation when Young's tip-in dropped through the net.
- Kila missed a 3-pointer as time expired, sending the game into overtime.
- The Wolves stormed to a 61-54 lead with 3:26 remaining in the extra session.
- Matthew Smiley's free-throw at the 1:08 mark cut York's deficit to three (61-58).
- Ryan Alkins swished home two freebies with five seconds left to seal a 63-58 win for WestConn.

Kila paced York with a career-high 16 points (7-of-13 FG) and 14 rebounds to produce his third double-double of the season. Chisholm added 12 points (3-of-9 3FG) and dished out four dimes. Off the bench, Brown scored 11 points (3-of-7 3FG), hauled in eight boards, and totaled a team-best two steals.
Matthew Trepeta chipped in with eight points (4-of-6 FG) and recorded four assists. Dominating defensively, Smiley grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked a game-high five shots.
Young was WestConn's sole double-digit scorers, totaling 12 points. The forward also ripped down a team-high 12 boards (five offensive) and had a game-best four steals. Alkins contributed to the Wolves' offensive effort, scoring eight points and grabbing four offensive boards. Jalen Jackson produced a solid stat line as well, chipping in with nine points, six rebounds, and two steals.
York shot 37.5 percent (21-of-56) from the field, 32 percent (8-of-32) from downtown, and 57.1 percent (8-of-14) from the charity stripe. Defensively, the Cardinals held WestConn to 27.1 percent (23-of-85) from the field and 19.4 percent (7-of-36) from beyond the arc. As York had the superior shooting statistics, the Wolves outrebounded the Cardinals, 55-43. WestConn specifically controlled the offensive glass, maintaining a 16-rebound margin (23-7). This margin can explain the Wolves' advantage in second-chance points (17-7). Additionally, WestConn had more fast break points (30-22) and points off turnovers (22-14), while York had more assists (14-11).
