FLUSHING, NY --- (

Ahmed Elgendy was recognized Monday by the City University of New York Athletic Conference as the Rookie of the Week for games played during the September 6-12 reporting period.
Hailing from Jamaica, Queens, Elgendy made 10 saves in York's season-opener at Bard College (Sept. 11). Elgendy also faced 19 of Bard's 30 shots on the day during the second half. The Rookie of the Week distinction is the program's second in as many seasons as teammate
Marvin Mondesir was recognized once during the 2019 campaign.
Elgendy and the Cardinals (0-1-0) are back in action Wednesday (Sept. 15) for their home opener against the Saint Elizabeth University Eagles (2-1-0) at 3 p.m. from College Point Field in Flushing.
