www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's volleyball concluded the 2021 season Thursday evening with a convincing 25-11, 25-21, 25-13 Senior Day win against the Yeshiva University Maccabees (0-15) inside York College Gymnasium. Prior to opening serve, York (1-8) recognized seniors
Kiara Gonzalez (2018-21),
Chayana Jimenez (2016-18, 2021) and
Alexandra Taveras (2019-21) for their dedication to York Athletics with the annual Senior Day Ceremony.
Emily Cabrera paced York with a career-high nine points on five kills, three aces and one block. Taveras followed with seven points (four kills, three aces) and directed the Cardinal offensive with a match-high 10 assists. Gonzalez produced a career-high eight points and four aces, and added four kills to her statline. Defensively, Gonzalez set the tone for the unit with a match-leading 11 digs. Jimenez concluded her career by serving the final four points, which included three of her four aces on the night. York also attacked at a season-high rate of .077 during a third set that saw the Cardinals register seven kills on 26 swings.
Hannah Aaron paced Yeshiva with six points on two kills, two aces and a match-leading two blocks. Zoey Botnick dished out six assists and Ashley Botnick scooped nine digs.
The Cardinals posted a season-high 38 points, 16 aces, 20 kills and 17 assists. York also owned the edge over Yeshiva in hitting percentage (-.025 to -.141), points (38-17), kills (20-10), aces (16-4) and assists (17-9) while Yeshiva outplayed the Cardinals in blocks (3-2) and digs (35-34).
