BROOKLYN --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's soccer produced a season-high three goals on their way to a 3-1 Senior Day win against the Yeshiva University Maccabees (0-12-0) from Aviator Field to close out the 2021 season on a high note.  Prior to kickoff, seniors Taylor Bellmon (2018-21), Elodie Dorvile (2018-21), Geraldine Guese (2018-21) and Stephanie Gutierrez (2017-18, 2021) were recognized for their dedication to York Athletics.

The Cardinals (1-6-0) raced out to a quick lead with a score by Gema Guillen at the 2:58 mark.  Guillen gained control of the ball and charged the box for a shot that sailed past Yeshiva goalie Sophie Dubin (0-10-0) for her first-career goal.  York then doubled its advantage in the 18th minute as Taylor Bellmon finished a feed from Dorvile to send a 2-0 game into the break with her third-career game-winning goal.  The Cardinals launched a season-best 14 shots (seven on goal) in the opening 45 minutes.

After both teams played even to start the second stanza, Yeshiva sliced its deficit in half in the 63rd minute when Lior Pinchot drew Gutierrez out of the net to put the Maccabees on the board.  York added an insurance goal in the 84th minute with an own goal to settle the 3-1 final.  

Gutierrez (1-4-0) turned away four shots to secure her third-career win for the Cardinals.  Dubin (0-10-0) made seven saves in defeat for Yeshiva.

York put it all together to set a season-high for points (7), goals (3), assists (1), shots (19), shots on goal (10) and corner kicks (7) while owning the edge over Yeshiva in shots (19-7), shots on goal (10-5) and corner kicks (7-1).
