FLUSHING, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's cross country seniors Taylor Bellmon and Jaylene Coye were recognized with laurels Thursday when the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) announced its 2021 year-end awards.

Bellmon, a native of Huntsville, Alabama, was named the program's first CUNYAC Rookie of the Year since 2006 (Taneisha Renaud) while earning York's first All-Star selection since 2016 (Camille Philbert).  She turned in a historical performance at the 2021 CUNYAC Championships, completing the 6K Van Cortlandt Park course in 31:07.2 to place seventh.  Bellmon's seventh-place finish is York's top performance at CUNYAC Championships since 2009, when Taneisha Renaud placed fifth (27:04.0).  As a first-year member of the cross country program, Bellmon was the Cardinals' top-finisher in all four meets that she competed in.  During her senior year, Bellmon also earned CUNYAC Women's Soccer All-Star and Sportsmanship Award distinctions.   

Hailing from Staten Island, Coye represented York on the Sportsmanship Team after displaying leadership at all six of the program's meets.  She posted York's second top-20 finish at the 2021 CUNYAC Championships by clocking in at 34:32.9 to place 16th overall.  Coye had previously earned a spot on the 2019-20 CUNYAC Indoor Track & Field Sportsmanship Team.  She has competed in all 18 of York's meets during her three-year career.
