Mac-Dege Dessources capped off an impressive rookie campaign in 2018-19 with the hardware to prove it. The NCAA crowned Dessources the Statistical Rebounding Champion after pulling down a Division III-leading 403 boards.
Dessources, a native of Brooklyn, New York, also finished the year with a Division III leading 16.1 rebounds per game, and was second across all three divisions to University of California's Kristine Anigwe in that department, who narrowly edged Dessources with 16.2 per contest.
In addition to leading the nation in two categories, Dessources also ranked among the top competitors in defensive rebounds per game (2nd, 10.0), offensive rebounds per game (4th, 6.0), blocked shots per game (14th, 2.72), blocked shots (16th, 68) and double-doubles (43rd, 13).
Dessources contributed 9.8 points per contest while shooting 41.3 percent from the field in 25 games.
As a team, York finished second in the nation with a CUNYAC-leading 51.0 rebounds per game. The Cardinals also paced the league to rank fifth in the nation in defensive rebounds per game (32.0) and seventh in offensive rebounds per game (19.0).
