York drops two in Season Opener versus Old Westbury

BELLROSE, N.Y.-- The York College Softball team lost the first two games of their 2019 season opener to the College of Old Westbury. In the first game, the Cardinals lost by a score of 19-3 followed by a loss of 27-0 in the second game.
 
After a rough 15 run first inning in game one, the Cardinals were able to tally on three runs. Panthers player Samantha Arcese went 3-4 with 4 runs batted in the first game.
 
In the second game they were shutout by a score of 27-0. Pitcher for Old Westbury, Nicole Baron showed dominance on the mound with her velocity and totaled 7 strike outs. Joined by her teammate, Lauren Bloom who helped tally on runs for her team going 4-5 with a walk and 7 runs batted in.
 
Next time out for York is on Wednesday March 20th as they play Hunter College on the road at 3pm/5pm.
