Women's Basketball loses to CCNY on Military Night
JAMAICA, N.Y.—The York College women's basketball team was outscored 17-10 in the first quarter and could not recover, playing catchup for the rest of the game, and fell to CCNY, 74-54, on Tuesday night.
York's
Mac-Dege Dessources scored five points with 18 rebounds and three blocks.
Sheahna Roscher scored a season-high 20 points and
Ellma Hodzic chipped in 16 points, six rebounds and five assists.
Keyla Cabrera hauled in 14 rebounds in the loss.
CCNY was led by Ashley Brooks with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Rounding out the support was Debra Chan with 19 points and seven rebounds and Crystal Blair with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
York had a tough first half offensively only scoring 19 points shooting just 8-of-28 from the field, while CCNY caught fire, making 4-of-9 shots from three-point range and hitting seven for 10 free throws.
The Cardinals picked it up in the fourth quarter but the deficit was too much to overcome.
With the loss, York is now 4-20, 3-12 CUNYAC. CCNY is 15-8, 10-4 CUNYAC. The Cardinals visit John Jay College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
