MANHATTAN --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) The City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) released its year-end men's basketball awards and All-Star teams Thursday, as part of its annual luncheon at the Water Club in Manhattan. In total, York College was recognized with three distinctions at the annual luncheon.
Devine Chisholm, who played in all 25 games to average 9.2 points per contest, collected CUNYAC Rookie of the Year honors to become the first Cardinal since Omari Phipps was named the top rookie in 2007-08. The three-time CUNYAC Rookie of the Week nabbed a team-leading 26 steals, and finished second in assists (70) and third in points (231).
Taishaun Forehand-Jenkins was named a CUNYAC second-team All-Star after averaging 15.1 points and 4.0 assists per game while knocking down 79.5 percent from the free-throw line and 43.8 percent from the floor. During a season-high 34-point home win (86-52) versus Hunter College, Forehand-Jenkins scored 31 points to lead the Cardinal offense. In two games against CCNY, he averaged 22.5 points 11.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds, including a CUNYAC-leading 15 assists during a road contest and 32 points at home.
Akil Vaughn, who saw time during all 25 games, was tabbed to the CUNYAC Sportsmanship Team. He also ranked in the CUNYAC top-10 in rebounds per game (9.4) and blocks per game (0.8).
