Women's Basketball pick-up a victory on Senior Night

JAMAICA, N.Y.—Paced by Ellma Hodzic with 27 points, five assists, three rebounds and three steals the York College women's basketball team defeated Medgar Evers College, 71-58 on Monday night.
  
 The Cardinals and Cougars played a close first quarter as both teams held leads, but York took a 14-13 advantage after the period. In the second quarter both teams continued to go back and forth as York held a 29-26 lead at the intermission. 

The Cardinals offensively opened up an early 11-point lead in the 3rd quarter. The Cougars fought to keep pace, but the Cardinals extended their lead to 10 points by the end of the third quarter as York scored 26 points in the period. 

In the 4th quarter York pushed the lead by 20 as Ellma Hodzic drained two free throws with 7:10 left. Medgar Evers made 13-0 run to cut the lead to 7. York responded by scoring four unanswered points to put the game well out of reach. A number of plays were made to help seal the victory.

Kristina Sierra scored 11 points; Sheahna Roscher added 10 points and five boards and Mac-Dege Dessources scored 9 points with 11 rebounds.  Keyla Cabrera and Krystina DiNardo each hauled in eight rebounds.

Cyndi Whyte led Medgar Evers with 22 points and added five rebounds and three steals. Jessycca Myers added 12 points, Khalia Sprattley 11 points and Janaisha Carrington chipped in 10 points. 

York concludes its season at 5-20, CUNYAC (4-12).
