Women's Basketball loses to Hunter College

JAMAICA, N.Y.—Despite keeping it close early on in the game, the York College women's basketball team could not keep up with Hunter College as the Hawks won by a score of 86-46.
 
The Hawks (10-8, 9-1 CUNYAC) used a balanced attack to knock off the Cardinals. Jade Aponte had 18 points, while Janine Conway finished with 16 points. Theresa Leung scored 15 points, six rebounds, and five assists.
 
Mac-Dege Dessources led York (3-15, 2-7 CUNYAC) with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Keyla Cabrera scored 12 points and grabbed 15 rebounds.
 
York was holding its own against a talented Hunter team in the first quarter trailing 26-18.  But York was unable to keep pace as Hunter extended their lead to 49-26 at halftime. 
 
The Hawks did not let up off the gas in the second half and outscored York 23-10 in the third quarter to put the game well out of reach.
 
The Cardinals will be back in action on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. vs Brooklyn College at home.
