BROOKLYN, N.Y.—The York College men's basketball team was defeated by Medgar Evers College losing 85-79 on Friday night.
York was down 13 points in the first half trailing 42-28 but stormed back on a 13-3 run to trail 45-41 at the half.
The second half was close game, the Cardinals made runs with opportunities to make it a one-possession game late, but the Cougars got stops and hit shots when they needed. Cardinals were not able to get key defensive stops as the Cougars put the game away at the free throw line shooting four for six in the last 30 seconds of the game.
In the loss,
Darin Dove finished with a line of 21 points, five rebounds, three steals, and four assists.
Maliqe John scored 13 points and had five rebounds, while
Taishaun Forehand-Jenkins scored 15 points, five assists and grabbed six boards.
Devine Chisholm scored 12 points as four of the five starters registered double figures in scoring.
Medgar Evers was led by Justin Sutton who had a game-high 29 points. Joancarlo Bonilla chipped in 17 points and six rebounds.
York's record is at 5-11, 1-7 CUNYAC, while Medgar Evers improves to 5-10, 4-3 CUNYAC. The Cardinals will return to action on Monday with a home game vs. Keystone College at 7 p.m.
