Women’s Volleyball drops home opener
JAMAICA, N.Y.—The York College women's volleyball team fell to Maritime College at home on Thursday by a score of 3-0 (25-11, 25-8, 25-11).
Freshman
Shamonie Miller (Queens, NY/InformationTech HS) led York in defeat with three kills, while Junior Chayana Jimnenz (Dominican Republic/Gregorio Luperon registered six digs.
Maritime's Meredith Hayes had ten kills, while Erica Kirchner had 13 assists.
In the opening set the York College Cardinals battled early on trailing 11-10 before the Maritime Privateers pulled away on a 14-5 spurt to put the frame out of reach.
Maritime had no trouble in the next two sets, making some timely aces and digs to close out the matches.
The Cardinals will visit Baruch College for a CUNYAC TRI MATCH on Saturday, 12:00 pm vs Medgar Evers College and 2:00 pm vs Baruch College.
