Bellamy Leads York to Win Over John Jay

NEW YORK, N.Y.—Karen Bellamy filled up the stat sheet, scoring 17 points with 13 assists, seven steals and six rebounds to lead the York College women's basketball team to a 64-42 victory at John Jay College on Wednesday night.
 
Bellamy was dominant, making 7-of-10 shots from the field, while establishing a new career high in assists and steals.  Also contributing for York was Allison Ahmed, who finished with a double-double of 12 points and ten rebounds. Sheahna Roscher chipped in 11 points and seven boards.
 
The Cardinals put together a strong defensive performance, limiting the Bloodhounds to just 20.5 percent shooting from the field and forcing 22 turnovers.  They also dominated the game inside, recording 34 points in the paint.
 
The Cardinals never trailed in this one and led by as much as 25 points.  After a close first quarter, they outscored John Jay 19-6 in the second quarter and never looked back.
 
The win helped break a slump for the Cardinals as they improve to 4-11, 2-6 CUNYAC. John Jay drops to 1-15, 1-7 CUNYAC.
 
York will host Baruch College on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
