Women’s Soccer Drops Season Opener to Yeshiva

BROOKLYN, N.Y.--The York women's soccer team played its first game of the season this afternoon against Yeshiva University at Aviator Field in Brooklyn, New York. This was the first game for the new Cardinals' head coach, Jose Castillo. Coach Castillo was recently hired and has just recently begun working with the team.

The Maccabees proved to be too much of an offensive threat for the Cardinals. The Cardinals lost with a final score of 14-0. Eliana Tuchman was the key player of the game for Yeshiva. Tuchman scored six goals and had four assists. Danielle Blicker also recorded four goals for Yeshiva.

The Cardinals' goalie, Stephanie Gutierrez, made some great stops during the match and recorded 11 total saves on the afternoon.

After today's loss, the Cardinals fall to 0-1 on the season, while Yeshiva improves to 1-0. The Cardinals will have a quick turn around before they play on Sunday against Cedar Crest College at 12:00 p.m. at Aviator Field.
