BELLEROSE, N.Y.—The York College softball team struggled to put runs on the scoreboard, losing a doubleheader at home to The College of Staten Island by scores of 15-0 and 14-0 on Sunday afternoon.
Game One
After a one-run first inning, the Dolphins came out swinging in the second, scoring six runs, thanks in part to doubles from Jacqueline Cautela and Antoinette Galbo.
The Dolphins added five more runs in the fourth and another three in the fifth to finish off the first game strong.
York did not have a batter reach base in this five-inning game. CSI's Jacqueline Cautela tossed a five-inning perfect game, while striking out nine.
Game Two
The Dolphins had a very strong first inning and never looked back, scoring eight runs, thanks in part to a triple from Nicolette Trapani.
The Dolphins had another very strong inning in the second, scoring another five runs off of a few singles and doubles.
York's
Dorianny Rojas led the Cardinal bats with two hits. The only other hit of the day for the Cardinals was a single through the left side by
Nathy Reyes in the bottom of the fourth inning.
York drops to 0-6 with the loss, while Staten Island improves to 13-3 on the season. Up next for the Cardinals is an away game at 6 p.m. at Yeshiva University which is a make-up from March 7
