Women’s Basketball Loses Close Game on the Road to John Jay

NEW YORK N.Y.—The York College women's basketball team fell short on the road to John Jay College on Tuesday night, 51-48.

York's Evanda Redwood led all players with a game-high 18 points, while Sheahna Roscher added 11 points and Mayan Charles grabbed 10 rebounds in the loss.

The Cardinals started the game off really slow, trailing by as much as 11 points in the first quarter. But Roscher and Redwood shot the ball well in the second quarter to bring the Cardinals within three at halftime.

To start off the second half, the Cardinals once again found themselves in a deficit but rallied early in the fourth quarter. York would eventually take its first lead of the game with 8:27 to go in the fourth quarter, but a few turnovers would cause them to give back the lead. The Bloodhounds were also able to make key free throws down the stretch, giving them the victory.

Cassandra Taylor led the Bloodhounds with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Uju Nwaigwe added 19 rebounds in the victory.
