Men’s Basketball Plays #9 Lycoming Tough but Falls, 75-67

WILLIAMSPORT, P.A.— The York College men's basketball team gave undefeated Lycoming College a scare, but the Cardinals came up short, falling 75-67 on Saturday afternoon.

In the loss, Darin Dove had a big game, scoring 20 points and grabbing eight boards for the Cardinals. Ryan Smart had 12 points and five rebounds, while Jamel Harris scored 11 points.

Lycoming's Chris Wallace scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while the rest of the team was very balanced in its scoring.

The Cardinals looked poised for the upset when a Taishaun Forehand-Jenkins jump shot gave York a 22-14 lead with 11 minutes to go in the first half.  However, Lycoming made a huge run to close the half, outscoring York 27-6 to go up by 13 points at halftime.

Lycoming looked like it might turn the game into a laugher after pushing its lead up to 18 points early in the second half. However, York had one big run in them.  Later in the half, the Cardinals exploded for 13 straight points to cut the lead down to just two points.

However, Lycoming would never relinquish the lead and regrouped to pull back ahead by double digits.  From there, the Cardinals never threatened again.

With the loss, York drops to 3-6, while Lycoming is now 10-0. The Cardinals host William Paterson University on Monday at 7 p.m. in their final game before the Winter break.
