York Outmatched by Baruch College

BROOKLYN, N.Y.- The York men's soccer team played against Baruch College on Wednesday night and lost by a score of 9-1.

The Bearcats struck early, scoring four goals in just the first 25 minutes of the first half. The first goal came in the third minute of play on one of Cormac Foley's three goals in the game. The Cardinals answered back in the 37th minute of play. After a nice through ball from Shavoy Campbell, Ivan Brito was able to chip the ball over the goalie and into the net to cut the lead to just three.

York gained some momentum from this and had some great scoring chances following their goal. Shavoy Campbell broke through the defense and found himself on a breakaway in the 51st minute, but goaltender Ante Lonic made a nice save to shut down the opportunity. Just two minutes of play later, a questionable offsides call stopped what would have been another breakaway chance for York. Baruch then tightened up their defense and would go on to score five goals in the second half.

The Cardinals play in their season finale against the City College of New York. The game is scheduled for Monday, October 23rd at 6:30 pm at Detective Keith L. Williams Park.
