BROOKLYN, N.Y.- Extra minutes wasn't enough to decide a winner, as the York College women's soccer team ended in a 0-0 tie with Medgar Evers College on Wednesday.
For most of the game, the teams played evenly. The Cardinals out-shot the Cougars nine to seven in regulation time.
Michelle Rodriguez led the way for York with four shots, including two on goal, but the goalkeepers wouldn't falter in this game.
For the Cougars, Renee Charles-Warren had six saves in the contest and kept her team in the game. York's goalkeeper
Stephanie Gutierrez had four saves herself, including a big save in extra time.
The game was on the line in the 97th minute as the Cardinals were called for a penalty in the box, which led to a penalty shot for Brenda Cruz. However, she was unable to connect as Gutierrez made the last crucial save of the match.
The Cardinals' next match comes on Saturday, October 14th as they travel to the College of Staten Island. The game is scheduled for 2:00 pm.Â
