NEW YORK, NY—The York College men's volleyball team fell in straight sets to #15 New York University on Wednesday night by a score of 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-15).
Larry Moore led York in the loss with seven kills and a hitting percentage of .308.
Akeem George had three kills and three blocks.
NYU had 12 kills and three aces from Chase Klein. Jake Getz and Will Kozloski each had eight kills.
In the opening set, the two teams were locked in a tight battle until four straight NYU points took a 17-15 lead and extended it to 21-15.
The Cardinals had their sights set on evening things up in the second after taking an 11-9 lead thanks to a George kill and a pair of NYU hitting errors. However, NYU rallied to score four of the next five points to take a lead. They would then pull away from there.
In set #3, York had an early 4-3 lead after a
Frederis Tapia kill, but NYU would quickly take back the lead and eventually pulled away after five straight points made it 22-12.
NYU improves to 9-8, while York drops to 9-12. The Cardinals return to action this Friday for day one of the Johnson & Wales University tournament. They play Emmanuel College and New Jersey City University at 4 and 8 p.m. On Saturday, action continues when they face Johnson and Wales at 10 a.m. and Bard College at 2 p.m.
