NEW YORK, N.Y.—The York College women's basketball team was hoping for another upset in the CUNYAC Tournament, this time in the quarterfinal round, but it was not to be, as CCNY defeated the Cardinals, 80-30, on Sunday afternoon.
CCNY was led by Tiara Brown, who had 17 points, 10 boards and four assists. Erika Richards finished with 16 points and four assists.
York got 11 points from
Shauncia McClendon and 15 rebounds from
Jigcara Grant.
The Cardinals finish the season with a record of 6-20. CCNY improves to 17-9 and advances to the semifinals on Wednesday.
Despite York's exit, the Cardinals take away a lot of positives with the 2015-16 season. They earned their first playoff victory since 2002-03 with their win in the opening round on Friday. Senior
Angelika Ruggiano finishes her career with 1,117 points, which is fourth on the school's all-time scoring list. Fellow senior
Jigcara Grant finished the season with 522 rebounds and an average of 20.1 per game and will almost certainly end up as the nation's leading rebounder.
